About me

Hi! My name is Melanie Restrepo. I’m a student at Florida International University studying Early Childhood Education.

I created this blog as a final project for my EEC3408 class. As someone who grew up in a culturally diverse community and has worked closely with children ages 2–5, I’ve seen firsthand how important it is for educators to be culturally competent.

This toolbox reflects my passion for building classrooms where every child feels seen, heard, and celebrated, regardless of their background, ability, language, or family structure.

I believe cultural competence is a journey, and I’m committed to growing and learning alongside the families and students I’ll serve.

"It's the teacher that makes the difference, not the classroom."
