Welcome to hearts, homes, and classrooms

Welcome to my Cultural Competence Toolbox!

As future educators, it’s our responsibility to understand and support the diverse students and families we serve. This blog was created as part of my EEC3408 course and is designed to help teachers build culturally responsive classrooms where every child feels seen, heard, and valued.

What is Cultural Competence?

Cultural competence means being able to understand, respect, and respond appropriately to people from different cultures. In early childhood education, it’s not just about celebrating holidays. it’s about building relationships, reflecting on our own bias, and making sure our teaching practices reflect and respect the children in our care.
